Kapha Balancing Lifestyle Choices

Following the Ayurvedic clock serves us all, whether we are high in Kapha Dosha or not, during Kapha season. Rise with the sun, and avoid sleeping in past 6:30 or 7:00am as this may contribute to feelings of lethargy and grogginess. The earth is ripe and receptive this time of day, and setting up some simple morning routines can greatly aid in balancing yourself out, making you more resilient to stress, and preventing future disease.

During Kapha season, use a neti pot to clear up congestion, try dry brushing the skin, to stimulate circulation and lymph movement before you shower. Practice some uplifting yoga (see last week’s tips) and save some time for meditation! Reserving time to just sit and breathe is like a shower for your mind – don’t leave the house without your mental shower! Then mindfully eat a simple light breakfast. Even a half an hour extra time in the morning could be sufficient to start a routine.

The benefits of a slow paced beginning to your day will serve you all day, and everyone around you as well – be the calm oasis in the face of the chaos.
